Abstract
We wish to report that the B-alkyl-9-borabicyclor3. 3. llnonanesl (BR-9-BBN) react readily with carbon monoxide in the presence of lithium tri-t-butoxyaluminohydride, 2, without reduction of functional substituents. This development makes possible the facile introduction of the aldehyde group into olefins containing many representative functional substituents (eq 1-5).
