Abstract

Tetra-p-nitrophenyl pyrophosphate, prepared in situ by the reaction of di-p-nitrophenyl hydrogen phosphate with di-ptolyl carbodiimide in anhydrous dioxane, has been found to phosphorylate alcohols at room temperature without basic catalysis and, therefore, constitutes a powerful phosphorylating agent.
