Abstract
Incubation of 1-(phenylsulfeny1)-and l-(phenylsulfonyl)-2-propanone with Corynebacterium equi IF0 3730 grown on hexadecane at pH 6.5 afforded the corresponding 1-substituted S propanols. l-(Phenylsulfinyl)-2-propanone was also reduced by the microorganism, the product being affected by the configuration of the sulfur atom, ie, while the R sulfoxide gave (R~, S~)-l-(phenylsulfinyl)-2-propanol, the S sulfoxide was oxidized first to the ...
