Abstract
Etherification by direct coupling of alcohols is a useful method in organic synthesis. 1 The reaction is generally carried out by using a small amount of an inorganic or organic acid. The Williamson ether synthesis, 2 one of the most commonly used methods, requires the conversion of alcohols to halides or tosylates.
