Abstract

In the course of our investigations on trifunctional a-aminobutyric acids we have worked out new syntheses of a-amino-7-halogenobutyric acids and of DL-homoserine2 (a-amino-y- hydroxybutyric acid). The convenient synthesis of the latter is based on the use of a-amino-y- iodobutyric acid hydroiodide (11).
