Abstract

The scope of the reaction of ethyl chloroformate with amides as a preparation of ethyl imidate hydrochlorides has been investigated. The imidate salts have been prepared successfully in good yields from aliphatic amides containing from one to eight carbon atoms, both straight and branched chain. The N-methyl and N-ethyl derivatives of these aliphatic amides reacted in the same way to give N-substituted imidate hydrochlorides. Attempts to ...
