Abstract

An attempt has been made to generate the metastable thiazyl thiocyanide molecule, NS- SCN, by means of an on-line process from low pressure, gas-phase pyrolysis of thiazyl chloride, NSCl, over heated AgSCN. The products have been characterized by the IR spectra of their vapors; values for ν1 of 2060 cm− 1 (C N stretch), ν2 of 1365 cm− 1 (N S stretch), and for ν3 of 712.6 cm− 1 (C S stretch) were obtained.
