Abstract
In an earlier study of the solvolysis of the cisand trans-9decalylcarbinyl tosylates, a it was found that the rearrangement pathway followed differed from the pathway established for the ionic decomposition of trans-9de~ alylhydroperoxide.~ To rationalize the results, certain steric strain arguments were used, and in order to test such hypotheses it was desirable to study the reaction of other angularly substituted fused ring systems.
