Abstract

The proposed formation of dibenzoylfuroxan (11, R= C6HsCO) by dimerization of benzoylnitrile oxide2 (I, R= C6HbCO) in the reaction of acetophenone and nitric acid3 opened a new approach to the identification of a minor product3 which has been described as isomeric2-j and dimeric6r7 with I1 (R= C6HbCO) and also is obtained from 1, 6-diphenyl- l, 3, 4, 6-hexanetetraone and nitric acid8 and from chloroisonitrosoacetophenone in acetic ...
