Abstract
Summary: Molybdenum hexacarbonyl, when employed in catalytic amounts, effectively promotes cyclopropanation of acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, and ethyl acrylate by ethyl diazoacetate and a-diazoacetophenone; the intermediacy of molybdenum carbene species in the formation of cyclopropane derivatives is suggested.
