Abstract

CH2CHzCOOH 2-acet amido-4-hydroxy-6-met hyl-5pyrimidylpropionaldehyde (X) with p- aminobenzoyl-L-glutamic acid in dimethylformamide, followed by reduction of the intermediate anil with methanolic sodium borohydride'*; the product (I) was difficult to purify since it was insoluble in all solvents except aqueous acid or base, or hot dimethylformamide, giving only 20-25% yields of pure product.
