Abstract

HOAc, MeOH; BH,, THF; H2, Pd (C), HCl, EtOH). However, reduction to the alcohol 12a, acetylation (Ac20, pyridine), and hydrogenolysis of 12b gave the indole-2-acetate 13 in good overall yield. The alcohol 12a could also be reduced directly to 13 with Ph, PI, in benzene although in lower yield. The indole-% acetates 13 and 14 were converted to the imidazolines 2 and 3, respectively, on treatment with trimethylaluminum-ethylenediamine ...
