Abstract
Antimalarial alkaloids, febrifugine (1) and isofebrifugine (2), were synthesized from simple achiral starting materials using tin (II)-catalyzed catalytic asymmetric aldol reaction and lanthanide-catalyzed aqueous three-component reaction as the key steps.
