Abstract: A detailed structural analysis of the series of donor-acceptor molecules O2NC6H4 (C~ C), C6H4NH2 (n= 0-3) has been performed in order to investigate ground-state donor- acceptor interactions through a conjugated framework. The results of the investigation reveal an unusual bonding pattern that is not adequately explained by a simple quinonoid resonance structure resulting from bond migration through the conjugated backbone. ...
