Abstract

The formation of 5 from 4 is representative of the wellknown intramolecular cycloaddition of a nitrone to an olefin. 18J9 Numerous examples of this type of cycloaddition exist in the literat~ re. l~*~~ LeBel and co-workers have elegantly demonstrated the utility and synthetic scope of this intramolecular dipolar cycloaddition for the preparation of a variety of polycyclic isoxazolidines. 21 The exclusive formation of 5 is especially interesting in light of ...
