Abstract

The C/O alkylation ratios of a series of alkyl halides and α-haloesters with the thallium (I) salts of 1, 3-cyclohexanedione and 1, 3-cyclopentanedione have been investigated. Unlike the alkylation of acyclic diketone salts, the predominant process in most cases is O- alkylation.
