Abstract
Nuv., lY4i NOTES 2913 citral is a modification of the procedure of Fischer and co-workers.* A mixture of 11.7 g.(0.14 mole) of freshly distilled 8-methylcrotonaldehyde, 1.5 ml. of glacial acetic acid and 0.15 ml. of piperidine was heated under nitrogen in a small Claisen flask on a steam-bath for twenty-three minutes.
