The concept of relay switch reactants, which substantially enhance the scope of our cyclization–anion capture methodology, is introduced and exemplified by a wide variety of catalytic cyclization–carbonylation–anion capture processes employing hydride, organostannanes and NaBPh4 as anion capture agents.
