Abstract

Summary 1. Ethyl trimethylsilylacetate has been synthesized from ethyl chloroformate and the Grignard reagent of chloromethyltrimethylsilane. 6 2. Reagents such as dilute, hot hydrochloric acid, dilute alkali, hydrogen chloride gas, bromine and hot absolute ethanol cleave the Si-C bond of this ester.
