Abstract
To investigate the substrate preferences of O-methyltransferases in the monolignol biosynthetic pathways, caffeoyl and 5-hydroxy coniferyl aldehydes were synthesized by a new procedure involving a Wittig reaction with the corresponding hydroxybenzaldehydes.
