Abstract

A series of octahedral dialkylbis (cr, d-bipyridine) iron (II) complexes A are synthesized and shown to exist in the cis configuration, both in the crystal and in solution. Transient electrochemical techniques are used to identify two other oxidation states, viz., the dialkyliron (II1) cation B and the dialkyliron (1V) dication C.
