Abstract
Treatment of 2-methylcyclohexanone with PCl5, in hexane at reflux gives predominantly 2- ch1oro-3-methylcyclohexene (3). 5On the other hand, treatment with catechyl phosphorus trichloride followed by alcoholic KOH gives predominantly the isomeric viny1 chloride, 1- chloro-2-methylcyclohexene (4).
