Abstract

V VI initial reaction involved the conversion of 3-buten-1-01 (I) to 1-bromo-3-butene (11). 1- Nitro-3-butene (111) was prepared from I1 and silver nitrite. At least one fume-off was encountered during the distillation of 111, illustrating the inherent instability of this type of compound.
