Abstract
Hexaethynyldisiloxane [(HC= C), Si], O was also prepared by the same investigators by treating ethynylmagnesium bromide with silicon tetrachloride and hydrolyzing the reaction product. Hexaethynyldisiloxane also decomposes in cold water, yielding acetylene and silica, confirming apparently the labile behavior of the carbonsilicon bond in which one of the carbon atoms of the triple bond is linked to silicon.
