Abstract
Results 2-Phenylbenzothiazole (l), when irradiated in the presence of ethoxyacetylene (2a), gave two products, 3a and 6a (eq 3), in 25% and 13% yield, respectively. In a similar manner, however, 1, in the presence of l-ethoxy-1-propyne (2b) gave a complex reaction mixture. Five produds could be isolated (3b-7b) in 51%, 29%, 5%, 12%, and 1% yields, respectively, and their structures were determined by spectroscopic and chemical means. ...
