Abstract

Abstract Phenothiazinyl merocyanine dyes with variable substitution patterns on the peripheral benzene ring were synthesized in good yields by Knoevenagel condensation of the corresponding phenothiazinyl aldehydes and N-methylrhodanine or indan-1, 3-dione.
