Abstract
Abstract The second-order rate constants k 2 (M− 1 s− 1) for the alkaline hydrolysis of substituted alkyl benzoates, C 6 H 5 CO (O) R (R= CH 3, CH 2 Cl, CH 2 CN, CH 2 C≡ CH, CH 2 C 6 H 5, CH 2 CH 2 Cl, CH 2 CH 2 OCH 3), were measured in aqueous 2.25 M n-Bu 4 NBr and in 80%(v/v) DMSO solution at several temperatures.
