Abstract

Abstract A new alcoholysis reaction of silicon tetrafluoride with methanol in the presence of aluminum can directly afford tetramethoxysilane and aluminum fluoride. The reaction conditions were investigated in detail to find that the catalytic amount of iodine was effective for the transformation.
