Abstract

Imidazolium-2-carboxylates (NHC–CO2 adducts, 3) and (benz) imidazolium hydrogen carbonates ([NHC (H)][HCO3], 4) were independently employed as organic precatalysts for various molecular N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalyzed reactions.
