Abstract
Abstract In the synthesis of α-diazosulfones (subsequent paper 2) the N-(sulfonylmethyl) urethanes, RSO 2 CH 2 NHCO 2 C 2 H 5, are important intermediates. They have been prepared by means of a Curtius rearrangement of sulfonylacetazides, RSO 2 CH 2 CON 3, which in turn have been obtained from the corresponding esters via the hydrazides.
