Abstract

A hexane solution containing the carbonyl compound (10" 01) and tert-butyl carbazate (10 mmol) was heated to reflux for 20 min. When the solution cooled, the tert-butyl alkylidinecarbazate 3 crystallized and was filtered (85%). Further concentration of the mother liquor separated the remainder of 3 (10%).
