Abstract

Aryl or allyl ethers of some heterocyclic systems can be readily hydrogenolysed or cross- coupled catalytically with transition metals to give arenes, alkenes or alkanes. Unexpectedly for transition metals, the corresponding alkyl and, particularly, benzyl ethers are totally inert.
