Abstract
12 12 in many cases were confirmed by comparison with an authentic aromatic sample. The relationship of the substituents on phenols 6 and 8 was established by examination of the NMR spectra of the corresponding acetates. The constitution of the only nonaromatic product (9) was apparent from the lH and 13C NMR data.
