Abstract Reaction between 1,2- or I,3-diols, sulphonic acids and carboxylic acid derivatives leads directly to mixed carboxylatesulphonate esters. The process is believed to involve 1,3-dioxolan-2-yl cation or 1,3-dioxan-2-yl cation intermediates. ...
