Abstract
The yields of acid from this reaction were reproducible only with difficulty, due to a base- catalyzed decomposition which the acid undergoes with great facility, in which triphenylsilanol and carbon monoxide are produced. When this decomposition was avoided by working rapidly in the cold, reproducible yields in excess of 80yo were obtained.
