Abstract

We report the discovery of a catalytic procedure for the silylmoderated methylation of electrophilic alkenes under oxidative coupling conditions. Intermolecular alkyl transfers in Heck-type reactions have previously proved elusive.[1] Directing groups play an important part in palladiumcatalyzed aromatic CÀH activation processes.[2] Most of these reactions are considered to involve a palladacycle intermediate.
