Abstract

Iron-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of primary and secondary alkyl sulfonates with arylzinc reagents proceed smoothly in the presence of excess TMEDA and a concomitant magnesium salt. The arylzinc reagents are prepared from the corresponding aryllithium or magnesium reagents with ZnI2.
