Abstract

The Stereochemistry of the Cyclic P-Halogeno-ether Synthesis of Olefinic Alcohols ... Leslie Crombie" and Robert D. Wyvill Department of Chemistry, The University, Nottingham NG7 ZRD, UK ... The (a/(€) composition of olefinic alcohols produced by sodium ring-scission of cyclic P-halogeno-ethers can be accounted for by a mechanism involving fast electron transfer and carbanion inversion, with ring-cleavage speedier than conformationa I inversion.
