Abstract
On attempting to phosphorylate a secondary alcohol, we found that phosphorus(V) reagents are generally too unreactive and phosphorus(III) reagents lead to oxidation after the addition of the first alcohol. This and the cost of phosphoramidite reagents led us to look for an alternative, a middle way using a reagent that at the same time was stable towards oxidation, but also reactive enough to allow the stepwise addition of two different alcohols ...
