Abstract
Summary In contrast to Eisleb's observation that the alkylation of desoxybenzoin with diethylaminoethyl chloride and sodamide in toluene results in the formation of y-phenyl-y- benzoyl-N, N-diethylpropylamine exclusively, we have found that this reaction yields a mixture of the amino ketone and enol ether, the former resulting from C-alkylation and the latter by 0-alkylation.
