Abstract

A La3+ dimer with bridging methoxides ((La3+) 2 (− OCH3) x, x= 2− 5) is demonstrated to methanolyze a series of S-aryl methylphosphonothioates (4a− 4e), producing O-methyl methylphosphonate and the corresponding thiol (ate) s with accelerations of 1010 to 1011 over the background reaction at 25° C.
