Abstract

The reagent 2, 2'-sulfonylbis [3-methoxy-(E~)-2-propenenitrile](1) was prepared by the reaction of 2, 2'-sulfonyldiacetonitrile with excess trimethyl orthoformate, catalyzed by concentrated sulfuric acid. Configurational and conformational features of 1 were elucidated by singel-crystal X-ray analysis. The length of the cross-linking bridge in 1 was 4.98 & 0.1 A.
