Abstract

The synthesis of six new nitronyl alcohols is reported: PhCH= Nf (O-) C (CH3) 2 (CH&, 0H, in which m= 1, 2, and 3; and PhCH= N+(O-) C (CH&,(CH2OH),, in which n+ p= 3 and 0 5 n I 3 and 0 I p I 3. All are produced by condensation of benzaldehyde and the appropriately substituted hydroxylamine derived from the nitro alcohol of the corresponding structure.
