Abstract

In order to do this, we prepared 3-hydrazinopyrazine 1-oxide (7) and reacted it with the cyclizing agent 2 used in the previously described reaction. In this instance, cyclization is possible in only one direction to afford compound 8 or its Dimroth rearrangement product 9 (Scheme 11). The compound obtained from this reaction did indeed have the correct elemental formula, C5H4N40, expected for either compound 8 or 9. The mass spectrum, ...
