Abstract

Abstract A number of aryl-substituted 1, 2-chlorohydrins was prepared by treating 1, 2-epoxy- 3-chlororopane with arylmagnesium bromide. The reaction of the aryl-substituted 1, 2- chlorohydrins with sodium hydroxide solution furnished the corresponding oxiranes, the key compounds in the synthesis of a number of previously unknown thiiranes.
