Abstract
Abstract Nitration of 3-hydroxypyridine and its substituted forms has been studied under various conditions. It is shown that, depending on the reaction temperature and the nitrating agent, the end products of the synthesis can be 3-hydroxy-2, 6-dinitropyridine or 3-hydroxy- 2, 4, 6-trinitropyridine. The possibility of substitutional nitration of iodine derivatives of 2-and 3-hydroxypyridine is demonstrated.
