Abstract
Recently a, model was developed for the interpretation of the ultrariolet spectrum of triptycene. 2 According to this model the triptyceiie spectrum is essentially that of an o- substituted beiizeiie which, however, has been slightly displaced by interaction of the weak transition dipoles. extension of this model to triptyceiies which are substituted in one of the rings suggests that their ultraviolet qpectra should be approximately the sum of the bands ...
