Abstract

Reaction of 3-dimethylaminoprop-2-enal with a reagent, prepared from dimethyl sulfide and N-chlorosuccinimide, afforded (l-formyl-2-dimethylaminoethenyl) dimethylsulfoni urn chloride (V) which was hydrolysed to a highly stabilised sulfonium ylide- dimethylsulfoniodiformylmethylide.
