Abstract
Optical active R(+) styrene oxide, the product of Merck Company was used without further purification. The optical purity of the product was determined by the comparison of the observed optical rotation in heptane with the reported rotation in the literature, [α] D = −43.85° (heptane). 14b,16 In addition, the optical rotation of obtained (−)-1-phenylethanethiol from reduction of optically active styrene sulfide was compared with the reported rotation for the (+) ...
