Abstract

V IV van Tamelenj reported that cyclopentene oxide (Ia) was not converted to cyclopentene sulfide (Va) with potassium thiocyanate at room temperature, conditions under which cyclohexene oxide (Ib) was converted to cyclohexene sulfide (Vb) in high yield. He also reported that cyclopentene oxide (Ia) was recovered in about 80% yield when it was heated with excess potassium thiocyanate at 60" for 15 hours. van Tamelens rationalized these ...
